Welcome on the website of the Dutch Association for Large Families (the Vereniging "Groot Gezin", VGG, www.grootgezin.nl).

Our activities started in 2002, and from June 2003 we are officially registered as an association. At the moment we have more than 300 members.

Parents and foresters with at least 3 children are entitled to be a member of the Dutch Association for Large Families.

The Dutch Association for Large Families forms part of the European Large Family Confederation (ELFAC, www.ELFAC.org). The European Large Families Confederation was formally constituted in Lisbon on 27 March 2004, gathering Large Families Associations across Europe with the objective of upholding the values present in families and demanding fair treatment for all European large families.

  1. The Dutch Association for Large Families is a community of interests for families with at least 3 children. The Association intends to:
    1. Support the position of large families in a broad sense;
    2. Draw attention to the position of large families within the society;
    3. Signal affairs that have a negative impact on families in general and large families in special;
    4. Promote appreciation, attention and respect for welcare and education in such a way that they are seen as valuable economic activities with a social surplus value;
    5. Propagate equal development chances for all children;
    6. Compare positively the intrinsic value of parental education with that of professional education;
    7. Prevent a further erosion of family life.

  2. The Association tries to achieve its objectives by:
    1. Promotion of mutual contacts between its members;
    2. Stimulation and promotion of measures and actions that are in the interest of the target group;
    3. Bringing the problems encountered by members in the context of politics, media and society under notice;
    4. Keeping up contacts with agencies related to family issues;
    5. Informing members and others concerning the associations matters;
    6. Keeping up contacts with organizations and institutions with related aims, both inside and outside the Netherlands;
    7. Any other means that are liable to the aims of the Dutch Association for Large Families.
